Nintendo of Japan has detailed the amiibo functionality in the upcoming Metroid: Samus Returns game for Nintendo 3DS systems, including amiibo compatibility with the Samus and Zero Suit Samus amiibo from the Super Smash Bros series. Here’s the full breakdown:
Samus Aran (Metroid Series) amiibo
- Aeon Reserve Tank will be enabled, when Aeon gauge is empty scan the Samus Aran amiibo and it’ll be replenished.
- When completing the game, you will be able to unlock Metroid II art which can be seen at the art gallery in-game.
Metroid (Metroid Series) amiibo
- Players can use a “Metroid Marker” to locate the nearest Metroid on the map.
- Once completing the game, players can access a new difficulty mode, “Fusion” which can be played using the Fusion Suit at the start of the game.
Samus (Super Smash Bros) amiibo
- Enables the use of the Missile reserve tank, and can be used when players run out of Missile in-game.
- After completing the game, players can unlock concept art of the game and will be viewable at the gallery menu.
Zero Suit Samus (Super Smash Bros) amiibo
- Energy Reserve Tank will be available for when you’ve lost all energy, and it’ll replenish itself.
- Unlock the “Sound Test” mode when completing the game, found at the gallery menu.
Metroid: Samus Returns and the Metroid amiibo will launch on Nintendo 3DS systems on September 15th.
