Platform: Switch
Release Date: July 21, 2017

When I first purchased my Nintendo Switch I was instantly on the search for a travel case that would suit my needs. The first case that I purchased was sufficient but wasn’t exactly what I needed, it was not the most convenient and it was a bit on the bulky side. I like my gaming accessories to be cute and convenient but I also needed something that I could quickly put my system into while in portable mode and small enough to fit in my purse or backpack.  As I continued my search for the perfect case for my Switch I came across the HORI Splatoon 2 Splat Pack on Amazon.

There are many cases and accessories available for the Switch right now but this specific starter kit seemed perfect for what I was looking for, especially for its affordable price at $19.99!

What’s Included:

  • (1) Splatoon 2 Soft Pouch
  • (1) Squid Game Card Case with Clip
  • (2) Splatoon 2 Analog Caps

Design

The Soft Pouch case features original Splatoon 2 artwork with squid kid gear logos and signature Splatoon green zipper and zipper pulls. The green squid card case opens up to 4 slots to hold your Nintendo Switch game cartridges and hangs off of a metallic pink carabiner to securely clip onto the soft pouch. This kit also includes two neon pink and green analog caps that make splatting your foes comfortable for hours of gaming. I did not realize before having the silicone covers how much less comfortable it was before I used them.

Concerns

Now, if you’re particularly rough or travel very often, this case might not be the right fit for you. It is made out of a soft cloth so if it takes a steep fall it might not completely protect your system. The pouch also does not have any room to fit any extra accessories you want to around such as extra joy-cons or handles, I would look elsewhere. This specific model does not come with a handle or strap so it’d be best suited going into another bag while traveling with your Switch. Unfortunately, it also doesn’t include a screen protector either, however, it definitely is a great kit overall especially if you’re a big fan of the Splatoon series!

Final Thoughts

Overall I am pleased with this starter kit. It’s compact and accessible for my Nintendo Switch in handheld mode. I feel much safer having my system undocked at home while it is protected by the soft pouch. The entire kit fits seamlessly in my backpack for when I’m going on long car rides. If I plan on going on long distanced vacations, I will likely have to bring another case for my accessories but this is fine for my personal preferences. I would highly recommend this kit for any squid kids looking a simple and low-cost way to protect their Nintendo Switch.
