It’s been a longtime coming for Pokémon to arrive onto a hybrid system and from the moment the Switch was announced many of us only dreamed of getting Pokémon on a TV screen!

Game Freak expressed their excitement for their upcoming ‘Core RPG Pokémon title’ for Nintendo Switch during an interview with Game Informer.

Junichi Masuda, co-founder of Game Freak told Game Informer how excited he is to see the response from the community once the game is available on Switch.

“Will it be home for the most part? Will it be out and about? I think that is really going to depend on where the person lives, maybe. Depending on the country, maybe the main style of playing will be different. As we’ve been saying a lot, we always focus on, when designing the games, thinking about how the player is going to play the game – how they’re going to enjoy it, and what kind of experiences they are going to have. I’m really just kind of excited to see where the main style of playing is going to land.”

Mr. Masuda also explained that the approach for Pokémon on Nintendo Switch is different since the game is a hybrid system and can be played at home or on-the-go.

“It’s definitely different this time,” Masuda acknowledged. “Just playing it at home is kind of a little bit different than the portable systems we’ve made games for up until now.”

Shigeru Ohmori explained that they’re excited to see the positive reactions from fans and they’re going to try their best to meet expectations.

“It definitely is really fun to see that, but at the same time, it is definitely a lot of pressure, so we’re going to do our best to create a game that answers those expectations.”
