Nintendo’s recent Switch update added a bunch of great new features, like the ability to transfer saves, 30 second replays, and more. But one unmentioned new feature went live with this update; one that will very likely excite a certain subset of Nintendo’s fanbase.

The 4.0 update added support for the Gamecube Adapter first discovered by MasterMewking on Twitter. GameXplain has video of it working down below.

For those familiar with the Adapter, this is huge news that points towards Nintendo’s plans for the future of the Switch. Previously the Adapter was used for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, and it’s compatibility with the Switch further stirs the rumors that a new Smash Bros. title could be coming soon. Before speculation gets out of hand however, this compatibility could simply be for use with the Switch’s inevitable Virtual Console, but for now, it’s fun to imagine what Nintendo has in store.
