There are several controller charging stations available today for the Nintendo Switch. They each attempt to provide convenient ways of charging Joy-Con and Pro Controllers. Some charging stations, like the Nyko Charge Block series, provide a special feature or gimmick to separate themselves from the competition.

Snakebyte has created their own controller charging station, designed to make charging multiple Joy-Con controllers as easy as possible. The Snakebyte Four:Charge gives you the option to charge up to 4 Joy-Con controllers in one designated charging station. It’s simple design, ease of use, and relatively low price make it a good charging station for those who may not already own one.

Simple and Sturdy

The Four:Charge is an all-black sturdy piece of plastic, with a strong base and well-built rails for connecting Joy-Con controllers. The top of the Four:Charge has 4 indicator lights, one per Joy-Con. They glow red when a controller is charging, and they glow green when a controller is fully charged.

Unlike the Nyko Charge Block for Joy-Con, the Snakebyte Four:Charge has its power cable directly integrated into the base of the charging station. This means you’ll have to make use of the approximate meter of cable length or else you’ll have to purchase a USB-A extension cable if you need more distance. The packaging does not include an AC adapter meaning you will have to provide your own or plug it directly into one of the USB ports on your Nintendo Switch dock.

You Already Know How to Use It

Using the Four:Charge works exactly the same as docking Joy-Con on your Switch. Simply slide down the Joy-Con onto the rails until you hear a click and an indicator light shines red. Removing them is just as simple, meaning you have to hold down the release button on the back of the Joy-Con as you pull them out. For the past two weeks that I’ve been using the Four:Charge, it never changed my charging habits. Whenever I was done playing with the Joy-Cons, I would dock them onto the Four:Charge so they would charge overnight. By the next time I was free to play, they were always fully charged and ready to go.

Final Thoughts

The Snakebyte Four:Charge sets out to make charging Joy-Con controllers as easy as it already is when docking them to your Nintendo Switch. The simple design and easy to understand layout of the Four:Charge help it complete that goal without complicating itself by trying to be different. The relatively short integrated USB cable and lack of an AC adapter are a bit disappointing, but the Four:Charge does what it needs to do for a small asking price. The Snakebyte Four:Charge is available for purchase now on Amazon for $14.99.
