Before we get into this, this is just rumor at this point. A particularly juicy rumor, but a rumor nonetheless.

Sources close to Kotaku have reported that Activision is working on a Spyro Remasted Trilogy. Following up on the raging success of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, which is also rumored to be coming to Switch, Activision’s update will feature reworked versions of the original Spyro, Ripto’s Rampage, and Year of the Dragon. As with Crash, all the models, music, lighting, and cutscenes will be receiving complete overhauls. There’s also a mention that some content cut from the original games may resurface here. Considering that the Crash Trilogy brought back the infamously difficult cut level Stormy Ascent, this doesn’t seem too far-fetched.

According to Kotaku’s sources, the game will be announced in March, with a one-year exclusive PS4 release coming in September for the purple dragon’s 20th anniversary. After the year is up though, it’ll be ported to numerous other consoles, the Switch included. This is apparently the same type of deal Crash is under, so if these sources aren’t lying, we ought to see everyone’s favorite marsupial Crashing onto other consoles soon as well.

Will Kotaku’s sources hold true? We’ll see in a month. Until then, keep an eye on us at NinMobileNews, as we’ll cover any further developments as they happen.
