Commemorating the recent release of Wargroove, the development team at Chucklefish held a Reddit AMA earlier today and shed some light on some of their plans.
Perhaps the most notable was the post-launch support confirmation, which includes quality of life fixes, free content updates, online play with computer players, among others. While they currently don’t have a list of upcoming updates, Chucklefish promised that they would be sharing a “road map” to outline their plans for the game.
Additionally, Chucklefish also confirmed that they are currently monitoring online play to determine whether or not to implement a ranked mode. Here’s what Finn Brice, known by his online name Tiyuri, had to say about ranked mode:
We are tracking ELO at the moment and using it for quickplay matchmaking, so we already have the tracking in place. We’re waiting to see how the online play evolves and whether or not a ranked mode would fit. We don’t want to divide the playerbase right away, but it’s on our maybe list.
Here are a few other interesting tidbits from the AMA:
- Chucklefish is pursuing a physical release for Wargroove but no confirmed details yet
- The development team is considering touchscreen support, but doing so will require a major UI change
- AI adjustments are on the way
- No cross-platform saving due to various issues
- No plans for a Switch-exclusive Chucklefish game
- Starbound for Switch is a “massive technical challenge” but is being considered
