Earlier today, the official SDK for Nintendo Switch was leaked online and users have gone through its content to find upcoming updates for Switch.
Neogaf user, Atheerios has provided new details found in the ‘NX Account Guide’, and has found information for an upcoming Save-Data transfer coming to Switch. As mentioned in his findings, it seems like save data will be at some point transferable among multiple devices.
This could possibly mean that users who purchase an additional Switch as a replacement, can transfer over their games and content without having to send them in for repair.
In the future, we plan to provide a feature to transfer account save data among multiple consoles. As a result, there is the possibility that user accounts with uninitialized account save data will be added. Note that your design must work without issue, even in this case.
Included with the information found, a ‘Guest Login’ is being considered for the future:
We are considering a feature in the future (tentative name: Guest Login) to access existing network service account information without linking to a user account. This feature would allow temporary access to the network service account linked to the Nintendo Account by logging in to the Nintendo Account within the application. This feature would, for example, make it possible to upload a character you have raised as online data and then use that data on a friend’s NX (without creating a user account).
We do not plan to provide this feature for the NX launch.
Do note that this information was made available to developers before the reveal of the Nintendo Switch, however, it definitely is promising to see these updates being planned for a future release.
Things may have changed from the time of the SDK being distributed, so it’s not an official confirmation in any way but we can only hope to see them soon.
