Forever Entertainment announced on their website today that they will be publishing Prodigy on Switch.

Originally developed by Hanakai Studio, “Prodigy” is a “turn-based tactical RPG featuring high-quality figurines,” and is being touted as “a new way to play without any keyboard, mouse, or joypad.” In order to play, players will need a few materials other than the game itself: the NFC board, NFC cards, and figurines. These materials are currently available for preorder at their store, either individually or as a set.

While the original game requires a separate NFC board to read data to and from the game, it is currently not known whether the game will make use of the Switch’s NFC capabilities.

“Prodigy” was originally brought to Kickstarter back in 2014, where it was funded for $212,194. Since then, the game earned many accolades, including several Most Innovative Game awards in PAX East 2014. Meanwhile, Forever Entertainment SA is a multiplatform game developer and publisher with offices in Tokyo and Poland, focusing primarily on Japanese and Chinese markets.
