The Australian Classification Board recently published its rating for the upcoming Switch game, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, giving it an “M” rating.
Accompanying the ACB’s rating is a handy table showing how each aspect of the game contributed to its rating. According to the table, the game’s themes and violence had a moderate impact on the decision. Language and nudity only had a mild impact, while drug use and sex did not have any impacts at all. As such, the ACB’s general consumer advice for the game is “Mature themes and violence, online interactivity.”
Australia’s “M” rating is appropriate for children aged 15 and over. This rating is roughly equivalent to ESRB’s “T” rating for teens (13+), PEGI 12 or 16 for Europe, and CERO B (12+) or C (15+) for Japan.
Along with the completion of the game’s soundtrack, Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s Australian classification hints that the game is almost done. It’s only a matter of time before the ESRB, PEGI, and CERO ratings are revealed.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is scheduled to release during the Holidays later this year on Nintendo Switch.
