Wall Street Journal’s Takashi Mochizuki tweeted today that Capcom’s Ultra Street Fighter II sold 450,000 units during the first quarter of Capcom’s fiscal year.

Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers is an updated version of an older Street Fighter title, sporting both newer and retro graphics. Released back on May of this year, the game was initially criticized due to its steep price tag of $40 despite being a port with minimal changes. However, according to Capcom’s latest fiscal report, Ultra Street Fighter II “made an excellent start and proved to be a smash hit.” Along with Capcom’s other titles, USF II was credited for the company’s revenue increase.

Due to the game’s successful sales, Capcom is also reportedly starting work on bringing Switch versions of multiple titles.
