It may not be out yet for most, but for testing regions, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp has already received its first update. While little within the game has changed, under the surface are hints of a host of new features, including a garden area, different seasons, Nintendo costumes, and more.

The biggest new addition in the data mine is gardening! In the mainline Animal Crossing titles, many players enjoy having set garden areas filled with flowers that they take care of day-to-day. After the Direct though, it seemed that that element was going to be absent from Pocket Camp. Thankfully, the data mine can put those worries to rest, as code for plants, fertilizer, seeds, and soil consistencies have all been added under the hood. There’s also some code that even points to an expansion of the gardening system via breeding plants together, but we’ll have to wait and see the extent of what this means when the Garden goes live.

Also added in during this update are references to different seasons and weather, with only Autumn oddly missing from the season’s code. Perhaps because the game launches during Winter, they can wait to add Autumn next year? We can’t say for sure. Weather-wise, a host of weather types have been added, with rainstorms, snow, fog and more. Interestingly, the summer and winter solstices have their own weather categories, implying that there might be special events that occur on those days in Pocket Camp.

Finally, some placeholders for exciting new features have been added in. Placeholder text for Nintendo hero-themed outfits have been added, including Mario, Link, Samus, and others. A category of buildings called “facilities” are also included, among them being schools, restaurants, and hotels. While the costumes are pretty easy to understand considering their past use in Animal Crossing, the facilities are comparatively, an unknown factor. What will these new features add to Pocket Camp? We’ll just have to wait and see. Stay tuned to NinMobileNews, as we’ll keep you posted on more developments for Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp in the future.
