Nintendo of America’s president, Reggie Fils-Aime was recently interviewed by Game Informer in which he discusses his initial impressions with Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Online and among other topics, courtesy of Nintendo Everything.

Regarding his initial impressions with Nintendo Switch, Reggie replied:

“When I first saw Nintendo Switch, I was convinced it would provide experiences never seen before. I thought the ability to take console-quality games on the go and share them with others, plus all the other new features built into the console and the Joy-Con controllers, would really change how people experience their favorite games. It enables a player to always have time to play their favorite games, and this is a powerful concept.

Of course, even when we see the potential of a system internally, we never know how the public will react to it. We saw strong reactions with the public from our very first introductory video. From there, enthusiasm built to launch and all through the 2017 holiday season. We’re truly appreciative of how fans have reacted, and we’re only getting started.”

From the beginning, Nintendo’s plan was to have a steady flow of content coming to Nintendo Switch with first and third titles. Reggie noted that it was crucial to have a strong Nintendo IP presence for Switch in the last year and has mentioned the same for 2018.

Due to its first year’s success, Nintendo has managed to sell over six-million Nintendo Switch units worldwide since last year and has improved production to meet the demand of new players.

As we wait for the highly-anticipated, Nintendo Switch Online service, Reggie did note that Nintendo is “looking forward to providing a robust online experience” when it launches this September. You can read the full interview at Game Informer.
