Nintendo’s success in Japan throughout 2018 can be seen not only in its hardware sales, but also in its software.

Aside from Capcom’s Monster Hunter World and Microsoft’s Minecraft, eight out of the ten titles on Japan’s 2018 bestselling list are Nintendo Switch exclusives. The version of Minecraft that made it onto the list also happens to be the Switch version meaning that nine out of the ten titles on Japan’s 2018 bestselling list are Switch titles.

From its more recent releases like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Pokemon Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Eevee! to games from the Switch’s launch window like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Nintendo Switch exclusives continue to sell exceptionally well in the region.
