During Nintendo’s latest financial report, the company revealed new information about their games and how they’re selling so far. Do note that the following information covers a 9-month period ending on December 31, 2018.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is now the best-selling game for Nintendo Switch with over 15.08 million units sold worldwide. This is quite impressive considering Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is very much a deluxe port of Mario Kart 8 from the Wii U and it’s selling extremely well since it’s launch. In other news, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has sold well over 12.08 million units and has already surpassed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild which is now reported to have sold over 11.68 million units since it’s release for Nintendo Switch.
Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!/ Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! has performed well, selling over 10 million copies combined.
Onto hardware sales, Nintendo Switch has sold 32.27 million units worldwide and has already surpassed Nintendo GameCube’s lifetime sales which sold over 21.74 million units. Nintendo has also revised their sales projection goals from 20 million to 17 million units for the financial year for Nintendo Switch. Hardware sales were up almost 20% year-on-year which is outstanding!
Now to address the elephant in the room, Nintendo 3DS sold over 2 million units, 60% down year-on-year, indicating the it’s well within its final stretch in sales. Overall, we’re thrilled to hear Nintendo is performing very well with their releases and we look forward to what’s coming later this year!
