Nintendo has partnered with Nvidia to re-release Wii and Gamecube games on the Nvidia Shield in China for the first time. As revealed by industry analyst, Daniel Ahmad, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and PUNCH-OUT!! are just a few of the games available now in a remastered 1080p resolution.
Nvidia Shield owners in China will be able to download these games and more including Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime at a later date. These first-party games have been provided to Nvidia under a special license which is the first time Nintendo games are available on a different platform other than their own.
What’s interesting about this special partnership between Nintendo and Nvidia is that the Switch uses the same Tegra X1 system-on-chip as the Shield TV, which could be a hint as to what’s to come for Nintendo and the highly anticipated Virtual Console.
