Nintendo Switch owners are going to be looking for more controllers to play Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with their friends once it releases in early December. While the Switch has no shortage of (expensive) available controller options from Nintendo, there are also a ton of third-party controllers to choose from. PDP seeks to differentiate themselves from the competition with the Wired Fight Pad Pro. By mixing a GameCube controller and a Switch Pro controller together, the Wired Fight Pad Pro gives you an affordable wired controller for those players who want a GameCube controller with the functionality of a Switch Pro controller.

The Wired Fight Pad Pro controllers have bright, colorful designs with a themed rubber logo in the center. The Pikachu-themed controller is characterized by the sharp contrast of black and yellow in its layout and on the rubberized Pikachu icon. The Zelda-themed controller is a light blue that boldly showcases the Hylian shield at the center. The 10-foot USB cable allows for plenty of space to get comfortable on the couch or in front of the television. These designs are clean and offer a nice break from the boring black, gray, and white themed controllers that are the norm.

What makes the Wired Fight Pad Pro unique over its competitors is that it has the button and stick layout of the GameCube controller while having the additional functionality of the Switch Pro controller. You have the iconic ABXY layout without losing the Home and Screenshot functionality of the Switch. The Wired Fight Pad Pro lets you swap out the included C-Stick with a standard control stick for when you want a normal dual-stick experience. Swapping them out is as simple as pulling one out and pushing its replacement in. Having the ability to turn the C-Stick into a standard control stick and vice-versa is huge, as it allows you to play games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at one moment and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus in the next.

The Wired Fight Pad Pro arrives just in time for the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Themed after three iconic Nintendo franchises, the Wired Fight Pad Pro lets you express yourself while giving you the functionality you need on all kinds of Switch games. It is nice to see that PDP is trying something new with their wired controllers, and I’m a huge fan of the replaceable control stick. PDP’s Wired Fight Pad Pro is available at their website and other retailers for $24.99.
