If there’s one thing the standard Nintendo Switch Dock needs, it’s a little more flair. You can stylize your dock with stickers, decals, or other decorations, making your Switch dock feel entirely your own. PDP has made the decorating process easier and even took it a step further with their Light-Up Dock Shield. Blending RGB lighting with Pikachu and Pokeball themed designs, the Pokemon Light-Up Dock Shield is a convenient way of brightening up your dock.

Setting up the Light-Up Dock Shield is mind numbingly simple. All you have to do is connect the included micro-USB cable to the Switch dock and included Dock Shield base, and then slide in one of the two included Pokemon-themed base. The Pikachu plate features an angry and electrified Pikachu running towards you as the Pokemon logo is emblazoned at the bottom. The Pokeball plate has a simple design showcasing a Pokeball logo in the center encircled by hundreds of smaller Pokeballs throughout the plate. Switching out these cute designs is as simple as pulling one out and sliding another one in.

There are three buttons on the back of the base controlling power, color, and lighting effects. There are a total of seven lighting effects ranging from strobe to fade to a rainbow-type glow. Each of these effects and the various colors it beams give life to the Pokemon plates. The lightning bolts surrounding Pikachu’s design are striking when coated in a bright yellow light while the rainbow effect of the base lights up Pokeballs in a variety of colors.

Normally I’m not a fan of RGB or other lighting effects on my technology, but I do enjoy being able to decorate my Switch in a convenient way. Sometimes I find myself powering on the lighting effects just to set a mood in my room. Just in time for the release of Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Eevee!, the Pokemon Light-Up Dock Shield is a delightful way for any Pokemon fan to decorate their dock. PDP’s Pokemon Light-Up Dock Shield is available on their website and other retailers for $19.99.
