Since it’s development, Square Enix has used the term “HD-2D” to describe the particular art-style in which Octopath Traveler was created. With this being said, it seems Square Enix could potentially be working on newer titles featuring this style, considering that they’ve recently trademarked the term “HD-2D” in Europe.

According to Square Enix, they’re focusing on bringing new titles to the hybrid console in the future and will be announcing them soon. Hopefully we’ll see either a sequel to Octopath Traveler and new titles that were inspired by the game. Let us know what you’d like to see next for Square Enix in the comments below.
