Tatsumi Kimishima took the role as a temporary President for Nintendo after the passing of Mr. Satoru Iwata in 2015. Kimishima has held the position for a couple years and has done a fantastic job ushering in the Switch era for Nintendo. He is first and foremost a businessman, however, his replacement has a good balance between being a gamer and running a company.
With that being, Shuntaro Furukawa will be taking in this new role as Global President of Nintendo in June. Kimishima stated that he is “very pleased” with Switch sales, but his age has made it difficult for him to travel around the world. He believes that the younger Furukawa will fulfill this position very well. Furukawa even stated during the briefing that Nintendo “should focus on things that only we can provide. otherwise, Nintendo would lose a reason to exist.” This makes it clear that he knows that Nintendo fans strive for fun above all else. Hopefully, he will use these ideas and pave a bright future for the company.
During the financial briefing, Kimishima also teased a number of unannounced titles for Switch will be sure to boost sales. We’re all no so secretly hoping that this could mean the arrival of an Animal Crossing game for the Switch. E3 will be quite an exciting time for all fans alike.
We’ll be sure to cover all these upcoming announcements and titles as we get closer to E3. For all things, Nintendo, stay tuned to NinMobileNews.
