PlatinumGames’ Chief Game Designer Hideki Kamiya announced today that the studio is working on “an all-new, all-original project” codenamed ‘Project G.G.’

PlatinumGames is best known for developing action titles like Bayonetta, Nier: Automata, and Astral Chain. While some of these games have been completely original projects, they’ve always been funded by and developed for a publisher.

What makes Project G.G. special according to Kamiya is that it will be the first “100% PlatniumGames title.” Kamiya states, “For everything from its setting and characters, to its game design and story, to how it’s promoted – PlatniumGames is in full control.”

While there is no information on the game’s name, expected release date, or expected platforms, we did get an exciting new teaser trailer for the project. The trailer feels like a scene right out of Pacific Rim, with a colossal hero squaring up to fight against a gigantic monster across a ruined city.

Project G.G. is the third entry in Hideki Kamiya’s “superhero trilogy.” Did you ever play Viewtiful Joe or The Wonderful 101? What are you hoping for Platinum’s new project? Let us know on Twitter and in the comments.
