Update 3/5/18 – 4:50 PM ET: Available today!
Nintendo has finally answered our call for a better way to use MyNintendo Points and will be integrated on the Nintendo Switch eShop, starting next month. Users who’ve been saving their gold-points will soon be able to redeem them on Switch to receive discounts on games. With this being said, users will have the option to use their MyNintendo Points and any remaining eShop funds, or other payment methods to pay for digital games.
Gold Points last one full year until the last day of the month, meaning if you received points for Breath Of The Wild last March, those points will remain available until the end of March 2018.
DO NOT register any physical Nintendo Switch games on My Nintendo until the new system kicks in. You will receive less Gold Points and will lose out on additional eShop savings.

As pointed out by @PixelPar on Twitter, registering physical purchases now will grant you a very minimal amount of Gold Points. To receive additional points for more savings, we’d recommend waiting until the new system is in effect. Select digital titles will also offer MyNintendo Points.
We’ll have more updates and coverage once this new service has begun. For all things, Nintendo, stay tuned to NinMobileNews.
