An event celebrating the Lunar New Year has begun in Pokemon GO, increasing the spawns on a dozen Pokemon representing the zodiac and rewarding players with double XP.
From February 4th to February 13th, at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8), dozens of Pokemon will have increased spawns to celebrate the Lunar New Year’s year of the boar. Each of these Pokemon represent an element of the zodiac to keep it themed with the event. Check out which Pokemon are getting a spawn increase throughout the event via Serebii.net and Niantic:
- Rattata
- Ekans
- Mankey
- Ponyta
- Electabuzz
- Dratini
- Mareep
- Miltank
- Torchic
- Poochyena
- Spoink
- Buneary
It is reported that shiny Spoinks and Grumpig are appearing to celebrate the year of the boar as well.
According to Niantic, there will be double XP on capturing and evolving Pokemon. There are also higher chances of receiving a Lucky Pokemon when trading.
