The future of Smash Bros. and the lack of a port or a brand-new title to the series on Nintendo Switch has fans wondering when we’ll see it arrive on Nintendo’s newest hybrid console. With this being said, Masahiro Sakurai has shared his thoughts on future plans for upcoming games and the role he’d like to take on.

All Source Gaming has translated the interview and this is what Sakurai had to say:

“If it’s a request from a client, then I’ll consider it, but I do wonder if it’s alright if I’m not the director. It might be good to take more of a consulting role.”

For a game such as Smash Bros, development has to be very stressful especially since there’s a bunch of work to do and it could quite a toll on anyone who takes such a role. Mr. Sakurai at his current state probably would prefer to consult ideas and would put him in a better position in terms of involvement.

We could see him work on new titles in the future, as mentioned in the interview, however, we’ll just have to see what the future will bring.
