The future of Nintendo Switch looks very bright with its continued third-party support and strong overall sales in games and hardware. Wall Street Journal’s Takashi Mochizuki has provided new information regarding Nintendo’s outlook for the hybrid console including new reports of more unannounced peripherals for the system.

As we’ve seen with Nintendo 2DS/3DS, Nintendo has made a few revisions to their handheld devices throughout its lifecycle. Sources close to Takashi Mochizuki have reported that Nintendo plans to increase Nintendo Switch sales by releasing new peripherals for the system rather than hardware revisions. Some of these include possible additional ‘network-related features and peripherals to be attached to its USB Type-C port’.

Tatsumi Kimishima, Nintendo’s CEO, wants to make the Switch’s product cycle last ‘longer than the five-to-six-year span’ by holding off on new hardware revisions for the system which can be achieved as long as these new peripherals continue to provide new experiences for the console. We’ll have to wait and see what these new peripherals could bring to Nintendo Switch, however, it’s great to hear that they’re building upon the system and its potential.
